Labor Issues for Start-Up Companies
Continuing Legal Education
New business owners are typically very knowledgeable about their business's core products and services. But once they hire just one employee, there are legal landmines they may know nothing about that can make their business a statistic. This session focuses on the things a new business owner should know before it hires its first employee, decisions it needs to make about the employment relationship and the terms and conditions of its employees' employment, legal protections it should consider, and establishing an appropriate and legal hiring process. It will also provide a broad overview of the employment laws that apply when an employer hires its first employee and the hiring thresholds when other laws apply.
(Disclaimer: At the end of this presentation, a Q&A session is conducted. IndyBar is aware that not all questions are repeated nor captured on audio. We apologize for this and hope it does not detract from the overall course offering.)
