Continuing Legal Education
June 4, 2014 Wednesday 12:30pm - 1:30pm
Misclassification of employees as independent contractors can lead to costly investigations and penalties for employers, and continues to be an enforcement priority for the Department of Labor and IRS. This panel discussion will cover the standards used to determine whether a worker is an "employee", contexts in which mistakes are likely to be discovered, risks of misclassifications, and strategies for handling re-classification. Panelist will provide a multi-dimensional view - including employment, tax, benefits, and regulatory angles.
