Update on IP & the Music Industry: Digital Rights, Antitrust, Reversions & Other Legal Developments
Continuing Legal Education
November 19, 2012 Monday 12:00pm - 1:30pm
The past year has seen the continued decline of physical music sales and a modest increase in digital download and streaming sales and royalties. This CLE will address current trends in recording and music publishing deals and developments in the law that involve control of various IP rights. Among other topics, the session will look at important developments in the FBT v. Universal digital royalties line of cases, how labels and publishers are reacting to termination notices filed under Section 203 of the Copyright Act (effective beginning 1/1/13), new “mix tape” infringement complaints filed recently, and antitrust issues related to the sale of EMI publishing to Sony/ATV and EMI Records to Universal.
Lunch will be provided.
